YES!!!
Just before we finally take a dive into the infinite UNIVERSE of WEB 2.0, I had some reviews, revision and reflections on work so far (basing my premise on Kolb’s reflective cycle). Ever since we started this TITANIC module, I believe we all (at most, all of us 😀 or at least some of us 🙂 or probably ONLY me 😦 ) will have thought about the volume of the module itself.
Personally to me, WEB 2.0 is a WAY OF LIFE, it’s almost like studying ‘Life’ itself, reason not been far-fetched from the fact that we humans spend an approximate 9 hours of our lives EVERYDAY on the web! That is approximately 30 years of one’s life interacting, communicating, sending, processing and receiving information across the internet!!! Now, I believe you understand where I’m coming from, and with this in mind as a major postulation for why the syllabus seems to be massive, I am of the opinion tha WEB 2.0 should not be just another module.
It should not be just a subject. Web 2.0 should be its own PROGRAM, have its own DEPARTMENT and in fact it’s own SCHOOL! If people get to understand the diversity, expansiveness, extent, range, scope, span, coverage, scale and POWER of WEB 2.0; I’m pretty sure this would be a ‘no-debate’ issue. Lives have been made and broken via this medium, countries have changed legislation because of WEB 2.0 activities, major decisions have been made as a result of data gotten from this medium, in short its power eclectic.
In the shortest of time, we would begin to see concrete and extensive improvements and inventions in the world of teaching and learning. Hopefully I hope to make the most and best use of knowledge gained here to improve my own domain as well as ‘enhance’ the Education experience in my country – Nigeria. Been a ‘rookie’ Educationist, I am yet to experience fully and formally the incidence of ‘teaching’ even though I have previously taught, but with new knowledge gained here and an innovative drive, new learning should not be far.
I really applaud BETH SNOWDEN and RICHARD NELSON for taking it upon themselves to enlighten us on the mannerisms, rudiments and schematics of WEB 2.0. Personally I do not believe I would love to undertake teaching a module like this… where do I start from?!
Thanks to every other person who registered to undertake this course for keeping me company as I envisaged I may be the ONLY ONE IN CLASS!!! :O
I hope we all enjoy and find it easy as we bask in the remarkably multifarious atmosphere of the WEB 2.0 UNIVERSE.
